MAKE A BEQUEST

A Bequest or Legacy is a gift left in your Will. A Will is a legal document that determines how your assets will be distributed after your death. If you do not have a Will you may lose the right to choose what happens to your assets. When making a Will professional advice should be sought to ensure that your wishes are expressed correctly.

The most significant sources of funding for the Mission to Seafarers Victoria is Bequest income. Being a non-profit organisation, we rely on donations and bequests from our supporters to maintain and develop our services and provide care to the seafaring community. Preparing your Will and deciding on the allocation of your finances to family, friends and the organisations that are significant to you is one of the most important decisions that you will make.

After providing for your loved ones, please consider a gift to the Mission to Seafarers Victoria Inc.

Suggested wording for a bequest:

  • I (…insert name…) hereby bequest to the Mission to Seafarers Victoria Inc. the sum of *($) for the general charitable purposes of the Foundation and I declare that the receipt of the Chairperson for the time shall constitute sufficient discharge to my executors and trustees.
  • Alternative bequests – * The residue of my estate – * A specific property – * Stocks and bonds *

HOW YOUR DONATION CAN HELP SEAFARERS

Did you know that 90% of everything we use, from food and medication to cars and electronics, reaches us via the sea.

We might not realise it, but we all depend on seafarers.

With your help, they have someone they can also rely on.

Your support for the Mission to Seafarers Victoria (MtSV) enables us to care for the shipping industry’s greatest asset: its people.

Being a seafarer is tough. Crews can spend months away working long hours with little respite or contact with home. On top of the daily pressures, the threat of piracy, shipwreck and abandonment are ever present for the men and women who serve us at sea.

Amid these challenges, MtSV has been a constant source of practical support and reassurance. Our staff and team of volunteers have been supporting the tens of thousands of unseen key workers who have helped to keep our economy afloat and transport the essentials we need to survive.

We rely on the generosity of our donors, sponsors, and benefactors; and the income derived from bar sales, venue hire and events at our Flinders St building in Melbourne’s Docklands, so that we can provide a duty of care that touches lives worldwide.

Thank you for your support.
